WE DON’T ONLY TEACH BSL
WE DON’T ONLY TEACH BSL
Deaf Awareness Training is one of our most popular workshops. We deliver fun, interactive bespoke Deaf Awareness Training days to both corporate and social clients.
Our Training can not only bridge the gap and fuel effective communication with Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals, but we can ensure you meet all requirements as outlined by the Equality Act 2010.
At Remark!, we pride ourselves on offering workshops to suit your specific learning needs. Therefore, we aim for you, the client, to inform us what areas you would like to cover.
The workshop will cover many aspects of deafness, how to cope with communication difficulties and incorporates a basic level of BSL signs. We cover the following ‘core’ topics:
The Training is led by you. Perhaps you have a Deaf employee and want to improve the team’s communication, or have a public-facing role with Deaf or Hard of Hearing individuals, whatever the reason for this Training we ensure we meet your objectives in an authentic, enriched learning environment.
Here’s what some of our clients had to say:
“I thoroughly enjoyed the session and am truly taking away a lot. I will highly recommend my other colleagues to come to this.”, Habiba, Newham Council
“The course on Deaf Awareness was really well put together, I haven’t enjoyed a ‘training’ course like that in a long time. I really got a lot out of it, it was such a valuable use of my time.” Sarah, Merlin Entertainments
“Wonderful and insightful workshop to help me understand terms and definitions of what is acceptable to use, and also tips on how to best work with a deaf colleague”, David, Ford
Our Introduction to British Sign Language workshop will brief delegates on Deaf culture before delving into a fun and interactive workshop learning the skill of British Sign Language, which has its own grammar, idioms and sentence structure.
Attendees will learn the History of BSL, Everyday Signs, basic dialogue in BSL and the BSL alphabet. What’s more, we will give delegates the tools to sign basic greetings such as “Hello, how are you?”, “What are you doing at the weekend?”, and even work-related phrases such as “Have you met your targets for the week?”.
Remark! are experienced in delivering these workshops having worked with many different clients over the years in various backgrounds such as health services, law firms, the entertainment industry and more. As always, our Training is shaped by you; we tailor it to suit your needs.
If you want to study British Sign Language at a BSL school with a difference, then Remark! Training is the place to learn.
